Some updates …

After a long time i will start bloging again here.

The last months: They were hard, there where some private problems which have hit me very hard, thats the reason why it was so silent here the last months.

But know iam back and here are some updates:

MySQL Visual Database Designer

Until now i have used fabforce.net´s DBDesigner 4 to create visual models of my Databases. But now ive seen there is a new Project from the same developers called MySQL Workbench. Its an official Product of MySQL and there is a OSS License and a Standard Edition License for EUR 79,– per Developer (which is a nice price for this tool).

The OSS and the paid version delivers forward and reverse engineering of databse models. The SE version additionally allows to forward and reverse engineer databases on live MySQL Servers.

Its really a good tool with a huge amount of features. Currently there is only a stable version for Windows XP and Vista, but there is an alpha version for Linux und MacOSX but they are really buggy at the moment (e.g. the Linux version softcrashes when editing the table name of your fourth table), but the existing stable windows version runs like a charm.
